Obituary
Ishpeming Twp- Elna E. Alanen, age 88 of 1785 Glendora Ln, Ishpeming, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Mather Nursing Center.
Elna was born January 7, 1923 in Ironwood, Michigan to John & Tyyne (Mattson) Ritari. She graduated from Ironwood High School, class of 1941 and attended Woodward Business College in Ironwood for 2 years. She moved to Detroit in the 19040's and worked as a secretary for Excello Corporation. While in Detroit she met Roy Alanen whom she married in 1950.
Elna was member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. Elna was a porcelain artist, she enjoyed crafts, sewing, bowling in her younger years and flower gardening. She also enjoyed having people visit her at her home over coffee and goodies.
Elna is survived by a daughter Arlove Alanen of Ishpeming, and a niece Darlene Quinn of Flint, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 2010 and her sister and brother in law Helvi (William) Palo.
Funeral services and visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Bethel Lutheran Church with visitation at 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00PM with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Inurnment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
Memorial considerations may be directed to Bethel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund in memory of Elna.
