Obituary
Gladstone- Elma E. Haltunen, age 100 formerly of Fairview Manor in Gladstone, passed away Monday October 11, 2010 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she been a resident since August 2005.
Elma was born March 13, 1910 in Ishpeming to Oscar & Katherine (Kaura) Elo. She graduated from Ishpeming High School and attended Business College in Menominee for a year. Elma worked as a secretary for State Bank of Escanaba, retiring in the early in 1970's.
Elma was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Gladstone. She enjoyed painting, sewing, crafts and gardening and was a wonderful cook. She also loved spending time with her many friends and her family.
Elma is survived by 3 grandchildren: Gail (Dan) Brazeau and Myra Heslip both of Escanaba, and Jesse Heslip of Marshfield, WI, 2 great grandchildren: Adrian & Reid Brazeau, a niece Carol (Don) Knechtges, a nephew Frank Elo, and a cousin Linda (John) Pietela. Elma was preceded in death by her husband John, a daughter Alice Heslip and a brother Nilo Elo.
A private memorial service will be held at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Inurnment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
