Ishpeming, MI – Ellen Margaret Young, age 59, Ishpeming resident passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, in Ishpeming from complications related to Cholangiocarcinoma.

Ellen was born in Ishpeming, MI on August 28, 1962, a daughter of Robert and Delyte (Heikkinen) Flynn. Ellen graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1980. During High School Ellen worked at the Butler Theatre and the Airport Drive In where she met the love of her life, Jeff Young. After graduation, Ellen worked for Simmons Airlines. She married Jeff in 1985 and they moved to Virginia Beach in 1986. While in Virginia Beach, Ellen worked as a real estate appraiser for Germano & Dunlap. She discovered many fine dining and shopping venues and shared them with family when they came to visit. Her daughter Jessica was born in Virginia Beach in 1991. In 1994, the Youngs moved back to Ishpeming and finally settled in her current house on Main Street in 1998, a house she dreamed of living in as a child every time she walked by. Her son Jack was born in 2000. Ellen joined the Town & Country real estate team in Ishpeming and was a realtor until she retired in 2019.

Ellen was deeply loved by her family. Ellen enjoyed 'family fun trips,' both local and afar, including trips to Florida, Virginia Beach and a number of concerts, including her favorite, Bob Seger. Locally, she enjoyed day trips and exploring new restaurants, loved walking the local trails, the Green Bay Packers and JigSaw HD. She loved reading and shared many of her books with others. Ellen carried on family traditions, had a "lively" Christmas tree and hosted many Christmas Eve open houses. She loved spending time with her family and her "meows." Ellen cherished spending time with her kids, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The kids loved her and her pockets of delicious snacks.

Ellen is survived by her husband CDR Jeffrey Young, USNR-RET, daughter Jessica Young (Justin Harju), son Jack Young; Siblings Robert Flynn (Sandy), Julie Valela (Fran), Kevin Flynn, Mary Aho (Jeff), Jenifer Flynn; In-laws Mike and Char Young and Tom and Cheryl Fleury; uncle and aunt Rod and Carol Carlson, and many cousins. She is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces, all of whom she loved deeply. She is also survived by three special kitties Marley, Mack and Mamba.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Delyte (Heikkinen) Flynn; brother Patrick Flynn; her grandparents; many really fun great aunts; uncle and aunt Ray and Rosemarie Flynn; mother-in-law Arlene Young and father-in-law John Young; and, cousin Brian Carlson.

The family will greet relatives and friends to remember Ellen and celebrate her life from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, July 22 at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Starting at 4:30 there will be a sharing of memories in her honor. Following the sharing of memories, we will continue to celebrate Ellen's life from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Lake Bancroft Park Mining Heritage Pavilion, including light refreshments. We ask family and friends to join us in celebrating her life by wearing something green on Friday, which was her favorite color.
