Obituary

Ishpeming, MI- Elizabeth (Lisa) Roberts, age 63, of 207 Zoberlein St. Ishpeming passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at UP Health System Marquette surrounded by her loving family.

Lisa was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on April 27, 1959, to the late Ralph A. and Catherine R. (Barbuto) Gervasi. She attended St John's Catholic School and Ishpeming Public Schools, graduating from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1977.

During her school years, Lisa enjoyed Home Economics and worked at the IHS Apple Corp. She loved writing and was gifted in the language arts. In high school, she wrote and directed a school play that was performed by her friends and later attended NMU, excelling in creative writing. As a teenager, Lisa loved collecting 45s of her favorite groups and spending time downtown with her friends. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Larry Roberts.

Lisa and Larry were married on December 9, 1978. They spent over 40 years together in a very loving relationship. Together they raised two children and created a warm home that welcomed family and friends.

Lisa worked at the family business, Ralph's Italian Delicatessen, for many years. She was an amazing cook and homemaker. Some of her favorite pastimes included baking, trying new recipes, and sharing her homemade goods with others. Her heart was happiest when anyone felt welcome and fed in her home.

She also enjoyed monthly gatherings with her friends from the Class of 1977, late night shopping, and an occasional trip to the casino.

Most of all, Lisa cherished the time she was able to spend with her five precious grandchildren.

Lisa is survived by two children: a son, Ralph (Amber) Roberts and a daughter, Bethany (Peter) Martell,  3 siblings; Bruno Gervasi, Mary Epperson both of Ishpeming, and Cathy (Rolfe) Lindberg of Sammamish, WA, sisters-in-law; Mary Gervasi of Ishpeming and Ellen Roberts of Negaunee, 5 grandchildren;  Ethan Martell, Olivia Roberts, Brandt Martell, Blake Roberts and Isabella Martell, nieces and nephews; Cathy (John) Tornberg, Nate (Jennifer) Trudgeon, Adam O'Brien, Christina Gervasi, Tony (Brandy) Gervasi, Nicolette (Noah Johnson) Gervasi, Bianca Lindberg, Lucas Lindberg, Samantha Steele, Christopher Steele, Devin (Karah) Steele, Tina Anderson, Jeff Steede, Jennifer (Joe) Cieslinski, and Jim Roberts, along with numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Larry Roberts, a brother, Dominic Gervasi, sisters-in-law, Nancy Gervasi, Carol Roberts and Judy Steede, brother-in-law, Ken Roberts, and mother-in-law, Violet Lupton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 24, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. Christian Flagstadt officiating.

Public visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday, April 24th at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming.

A luncheon will follow the service at K/D Hall.

Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
