Ishpeming – Elizabeth "Liz" D. Lyyski, age 63 of 5 Co. Rd. CH in Ely Twp. passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 at her home in Ely Twp.


Elizabeth was born April 14, 1948 in Ishpeming, the daughter of the late Arvo and Elma (Kytosaari) Lyyski. She moved with her family at a young age to Waukegan, IL where she graduated from high school in 1966. Moved back to this area in the Early 1990's and had worked for the past 12 years as a Certified Nurses Assistant at the Mather Nursing Center where she had provided compassionate care to the residents. She retired earlier this year due to her health problems.


Survivors include her four children – Lynette (Tom) Burchfield of Tulsa, OK, Troy Douglas of Las Vegas, NV, Anastasia Payne of Appleton, WI and Jeffrey Payne of Appleton, WI; a sister Norma (Dennis) Laine of Davison, MI; 2 brothers – Arvo (Jan) Lyyski of Republic and Jon (Cindy) Lyyski of Zion, IL; 2 grandchildren – Caleb and Joshua Burchfield; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Ruth Baker and a niece Revanna Laine.


The family will greet relatives and friends from 5 till 8 pm on Friday, Dec. 29, 2011 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming. They will again greet relatives and friends from 10am – 12noon on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2011 with funeral services to follow at 12:00noon at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lou Marquez to officiate. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee Twp.
