Ishpeming – Elizabeth H. "Liz" Elmquist, age 68, of 1550 Cypress St., Ishpeming Twp., passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 while a patient in the ICU unit at UP Health System Marquette.

Liz was born April 18, 1950 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late Sanford R. and Helen (Maki) Pesola.  Liz was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of the Champion High School, Class of 1968.  She had worked at the Miner's Bank, Nelson Chevrolet, and for 15 years as a server at the Country Kitchen in Ishpeming, a job she loved.

Liz was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church.  She loved music, especially 1970's classic rock and was fortunate to see Journey in concert this past year.  While raising her children she enjoyed camping during the summer months.  Liz had a passion for traveling, taking yearly trips to Florida to visit family, going on Cruises and 3 trips to Hawaii.  She loved tending to her flower gardens, golfing at Wawonowin Country Club and most of all spending time with her cherished grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Gregory Elmquist of Ishpeming, whom she married on Sept. 28, 1986; 3 children – Annette Anderson of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Kristen (Kendall) Tabor of Casselberry, FL, and Brian Elmquist of Hibbing, MN; brother Sambo Pesola of Humboldt; 7 grandchildren – Tristan, Seth, Alex, Connor, Cate, Tanner and Chloe; mother-in-law Mary Elmquist of Hibbing, MN, along with nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, nephew Ian Pesola and father-in-law James Elmquist.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00 – 3:00pm on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 3:00pm on Thursday with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate.  A luncheon will be held at the Ishpeming Elks Lodge at the conclusion of the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ishpeming Elks Lodge #447, 597 Lakeshore Dr., Ishpeming, MI 49849 in Liz's memory.
