Ishpeming – Eleanor H. Conte, age 98 of 517 N. Pine St., Ishpeming passed away on Thursday January 25, 2007 at the Bell Hospital in Ishpeming where she had been a patient since Monday.
Eleanor was born December 13, 1908 in Iron Mountain the daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta (Tudesco) Conte. She moved to Ishpeming in her youth and had resided here since. Eleanor worked for many years as a clerk at the H.W. Gossard Co. and then at the JC Penney Store in Ishpeming. Eleanor was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She loved to play the accordion, and enjoyed photography in her younger years.
Survivors include 2 sisters – Esther Tasson of Ishpeming and Mary Gyrna Andriacchi of Hancock; a brother Ernest (Gloria) Conte of San Jose, CA; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters – Carmen & Marietta Conte and Angela Zinn; 2 brothers Leonard & Nicholas Conte and an infant brother Joseph Conte.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday January 29, 2007 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Peter Oberto to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 10:00am until the time of services on Monday at the Church.
