Humboldt Twp- Elaine Gladys Rautio, age 79 of 19843 US Hwy 41 W Champion (Humboldt Twp) passed away Saturday January 30, 2016 at the hospice unit at UP Health System Marquette while in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health & Hospice.

Elaine was born December 17, 1936 in Negaunee to the late William "Bill" & Mildred (Wiita) Harmala. She graduated from National Mine High School, as salutatorian of the class of 1954. Elaine was a wonderful home maker who enjoyed baking. She volunteered with the pasty making at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Champion. Elaine enjoyed gatherings with relatives, friends and neighbors for card games and a good game of scrabble. She always looked forward to family gathering every Sunday.

Elaine is survived by 4 children: Nancy Prodell of Humboldt Twp, David (Peggy) Rautio Sr. of National Mine, Ken Rautio of Humboldt Twp and Michael (Cindy) Rautio of Republic, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren ,numerous nieces and nephews, brother in law Elden Rautio, special niece Ruth Hillman and special friend Joan Kulju. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Eldred Rautio on Sept 11, 2015 and a brother Wallace (Frances) Harmala.

Private funeral services for Elaine will be held at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at the Humboldt Township Cemetery.
