Champion, MI- Elaine I. Holmgren, age 90, of 34 Blue Rd Champion, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at her home on Lake Michigamme while in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Elaine was born in Champion, Michigan on September 5, 1931, a daughter of the late John and Alexandria (Ilves) Isotalo. She graduated from Champion High School, Class of 1949.
Elaine worked at the Peninsula Bank, but most proudly she was a wife, mom, and grandma.
Elaine was very instrumental in the planning of the 100 th Ishpeming High School All Class Reunion held in 1984.
Elaine was a wonderful cook, well known for her amazing pasties and her butterscotch pies. She enjoyed being outside walking, boating, spending time with her family at Lake Michigamme. More recently she enjoyed wildlife, feeding and watching birds, and working crossword puzzles.
Elaine is survived by her husband L. Dixon "Dugan" Holmgren, a son Chris (Karen) Holmgren of Ishpeming, a daughter Carrie Holmgren of Basking Ridge, NJ, three grandchildren; Bryant (fiancée Abbie) Holmgren, Trent and Autumn Holmgren, nieces and nephews; Lauri (Kim) VanOsdol, Terry (Robbin) Lundquist, Sandra (Calvin) Puttbrese, Elaine (Scott) Linke, sister in law and brother in law: Ann and Bud Elias, nephews Chet (Meg) Elias, Scott (Cristina) Elias, along with numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Paul Holmgren, her sister Jackie Lundquist, brother-in-law Roy Lundquist and nephew Larry Lundquist.
A Celebration of Elaine's Life will be held from 1:00-3:00pm on Sunday September 4, 2022 at the Ishpeming Township Hall, with a brief ceremony and a time for sharing memories at 1:30 pm.
