Suomi Location - Edward Liquia, age 75, of 3166 M-35 Negaunee (Suomi Location), passed away Monday, July 13, 2009 at his home while under the loving care of his family and Upper Peninsula Home Health & Hospice.
Edward was born on November 15, 1933 in Palmer to the late Phillip and Louise (LaMere) Liquia. Ed was a graduate of Negaunee High School and employed by Cleveland Cliffs. He started working as an underground miner and later worked as a plant repairman retiring in 1973 from the Tilden Mine. Ed was a member of the Richmond Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and the outdoors.
Ed is survived by 3 children: Michael (Renee) Liquia of Novi, Thomas Liquia of Folsom, CA, Suzanne (Lee) Goldsworthy of Ishpeming, siblings: Roland (Donna) Liquia of Negaunee, Mary Lou (Keith) Fraley of Negaunee, Carol Liquia of Ishpeming, Dennis Liquia of Negaunee, Betty (Dave) Vadnais of Negaunee, 2 grandchildren: Michael Liquia and Adam Liquia, brother-in-law: Richard Glavin of Missouri and several nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, special granddaughter Shannon Liquia a brother: Lowell, sisters: Shirley Arnold, Muriel Glavin, and sister-in-law Betty Liquia.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Family will greet friends and relatives from 11:00AM until the time of services. A luncheon will follow the services at Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. Inurnment will take place in Negaunee Cemetery.
