Manistique, MI- Edward J. Gagnon, age 82, formerly of Marquette (Chocolay Twp) passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.

Edward was born in Negaunee, MI on December 1, 1939, a son of the late Edward J. and Laura L. (Beauprey) Gagnon. Ed graduated from Negaunee High School in 1957, attended NMU and when on to graduate from Coyne College in Chicago in the electrician program.

Ed and his father were the electricians that wired the original WLUC-TV6 building when they moved to its current location in 1960. Ed worked as an Electrician for Upper Peninsula Power Company for 43 years, working in Gwinn, Escanaba, and Ishpeming.

Ed was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where he married Betty (Ostlund) Kunnari in September 1975. He loved taking long rides and having coffee with friends, woodworking in his basement, road trips to California with Betty, and being a super fan of all his grandchildren's and great grandchildren's sporting events.

Ed is survived by four daughters; DL Betts, Julie (Randy DeMars) Johnson, Christine (David) Rantanen and Michelle Gagnon, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, siblings; Rosanne (Lowell) Fleury, Keith (Sharon) Gagnon, Mary Lou Maki and Patricia Gagnon, several nieces and nephews and his loving dog Raynee.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty (Ostlund) Gagnon, daughter Kathleen Hogan, infant sister Nancy, brother-in-law Gary Maki and mother of his children Jill Corlett Gagnon.

Ed's family will greet relatives and friend on Wednesday June 1, 2022, from 10:30 am-12:00 noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where a memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon with Rev. Steve Weston officiating.

Ed's service will be livestreamed  which can be located on Trinity Lutheran Church's Facebook page

A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
