Obituary

Edelore "Ed" Poirier Ishpeming, MI- Edelore "Ed" Poirier, age 98, longtime Ishpeming resident, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013 at the Mather Nursing Center where he resided since May of 2009. Edelore was born September 11, 1914 in Ishpeming (Ely Twp) to Joseph & Exilla (Pepin) Poirier. Ed worked for Cleveland Cliff Iron Company for 33 years working as a master mechanic at Cliffs Shaft, he retired in 1970. Ed enjoyed throwing horseshoes, playing softball, shooting pool in the Ishpeming pool league and bowling. Most of his enjoyment was time he spent at camp, hunting and picking berries and mushrooms. Ed is survived by 2 children: William (Signi) Poirier and Phillip (Diane) Poirier, daughter in law Elaine Poirier all of Ishpeming, a brother William (Edna) Poirier of Haines City, FL, 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his first wife Theresa in 1976, second wife Stella (Frustaglio) in 2010, a son Joseph, grandsons Dale and Dean, brothers: Joseph, Richard and Ray Poirier and sisters Gladys Rajala and Mae Salmons. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00am Thursday June 20, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic with Fr. Greg Heikkala officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery. Ed's family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at St. Johns Catholic Church from 9:30am until the time of service at 11:00am.
