Rogers, Texas - Edsel Duane Vance, age 53 of Rogers, TX passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas as a result of an automobile accident. Duane was born April 20, 1959 in Buchanan, MI to Janett Ann (Dinges) and the late Harry Edsel Vance. Duane served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed gardening, attending funny car drag races and he had a love for the UP where he enjoyed the outdoors; hunting and fishing. Duane is survived by his wife Cynthia, mother Janett (Roger) Wuokko of Republic, 2 children: Cassandra Vance and Christina Vance both of Decatur, IL, grandsons Christopher and Jordan, sisters: Shelly Vance-Madison of Rogers, TX, Monica (Pete) Ventolo of King George, VA, Brenda Vance of Florida, Teresa (John) Thompson of King George, VA, Amanda Vance of Fredericksburg, VA, and Zabrina (Brian) Carroll of Texas, a brother Jonathon Vance of Marquette, Aunts: Mary Dobbins of Killeen, TX and Deborah (Ernest) Ballard of North Charleston, SC, along with other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and his best and longtime friend Allen Conway of Waco, TX. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, April 25th at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Republic with Andrew Kandoll officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of service. Military honors will be accorded by V.F.W. Grant-Nyman Post 5014 of Republic.
