Duane Aanderud

Negaunee- Duane Aanderud age 66 of 98 Croix St., Negaunee, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 1, 2007 at the Mather Nursing Center where he had been a resident since February 8, 2007.

Duane was born March 19, 1941 in Munising to Louise (Collins) and Theodore Aanderud. Duane was an accomplished commercial artist. He also owned and operated PaPa D's Pizza Parlor in Crosby, Texas for 10 years. Duane returned to the Upper Peninsula, moving to L'Anse in 1999 where he lived for a few years prior to moving to Negaunee.

Duane enjoyed the outdoors of the Upper Peninsula since childhood. He spent time searching for the best places to fish. He also liked walking in the woods and taking photographs of interesting subjects. Duane had a gentle soul and a great sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all.

Duane is survived by his mother Louise Gerard of L'Anse, 3 children: Elizabeth Leatherwood of Conroe, TX, Avery Aanderud of Galveston, TX and Aaron Aanderud of Alexandria, VA, a granddaughter Ashleigh Leatherwood, a brother: Dennis (Brenda) Aanderud of Spotsylvania, VA, 3 sisters: Diane (Charles) Garrett of Gulf Shores, AL, twin sister, Dawn (Dale) Numikoski of Ishpeming and Renae Aanderud of Pensacola, FL, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his father Theodore Aanderud and a nephew Shane McGlone.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
