Ishpeming Twp. - Douglas Brazeau, age 64, Ishpeming Township resident went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with cancer.
Doug was born on March 27, 1956 in Marquette to the late Earl Brazeau and Barbara Rovedo. He grew up in the town of Champion and graduated from Champion High School in 1974.
He was employed at the Tilden Mine for 30 years, retiring in 2004. His time at the Tilden was spent on maintenance as both an hourly employee and a salary employee. He was well respected by both hourly and salary alike, which he was very proud of. After retirement, Doug continued to work for various companies including CR Meyer, OK Industrial, and most recently, OK Rental, which was a job he really enjoyed.
Doug raced Motocross for 10 years with his son throughout Wisconsin and the U.P. This sport was one the whole family enjoyed, and they met many wonderful people. He enjoyed riding his Harley. His passion, however, was fishing and he enjoyed many days of fishing with his good friends.
Of course, what he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family. There were many trips with his grandchildren often resulting in funny stories. He loved attending their dance recitals, gymnastics classes and watching his granddaughter Megan play volleyball. Doug prided himself on being very helpful to neighbors and friends if they needed anything.
Doug is survived by his loving spouse of 43 years, Gail; a daughter Amy (Steve) McCormick of Ishpeming; a son, Bryan (Dionne) Brazeau of Iron Mountain; six grandchildren: Logan and Megan Racine of Ishpeming and Ali, Mila, Emmi and Indie Brazeau of Iron Mountain; a step-granddaughter: Amelia McCormick of Madison, WI; his mother, Barbara Rovedo of Ishpeming; four sisters: his twin sister Dana Tonge of Champion, Dorothy (Marty) Karjala of Gakona, Alaska, Jody Mackey of Negaunee, Becky (Mark) Miller of Eaton Rapids; one brother: Dan Rovedo of Iron Mountain, along with many nieces and nephews.
He is further survived by his loving in-laws: Sharon (John) Quinn of Detroit, Maureen (Chuck) Giacomazza of Plymouth, Mary Lee (Brian) Penney of Pinckney, and Colleen (Bob) McNish of Fountain Hills, AZ along with many nieces and nephews.
He had a special place in his heart for three wonderful friends: Gary (Robin) Gustafson of Menominee; Richard (Susie) Gustafson of Brillion, WI; and Robert (Tracie) Gustafson of Neenah, WI. Doug would refer to them as "my brothers" along with their families who loved their "Uncle Doug."
Doug was preceded in death by his father Earl; step-father Dan Rovedo; sister Earlene; two brother-in-laws Gerald Mackey and Lee "Chick" Tonge; a nephew Erik Kinnunen; and his mother and father-in-law, Lois and Jim Goode.
