Ishpeming – Dorothy I. Dobson, age 96, lifetime Ishpeming resident, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility where she had resided since February of 2006.

Dorothy was born on April 27, 1914 in Ishpeming, MI the daughter of the late William and Emily (Brewer) Hooper. She was married to John J. Dobson, who predeceased her in December 1988. Dorothy was a homemaker, who enjoyed playing card games especially pinochle, cribbage and smear, along with knitting, reading, playing the piano and her long talks on the phone. She will be fondly remembered by family as a woman with a great sense of humor. Dorothy had done some traveling, with Hawaii and England as favorite destinations.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Ronald) Sihtala of Ishpeming; a son Terry (Susan) Dobson of Saginaw; grandchildren: Michael (Rita) Dobson, Paul (Jan) Dobson, Timmy (Vicky) Dobson, Laura (Tony Hill) Sihtala, Mark (Kimberly) Stobbelaar, step grandchildren: Ronald Miner, William (Megan) Miner, Laura (McCoy) Green; several great and great great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by sons, William (Pat) Dobson, and infant son Jimmy Dobson, a daughter-in-law Peggy Dobson, along with 4 brothers and 3 sisters - James (Irene) Hooper, John Hooper, Charles Hooper, Albert Llewellyn (Ruth) Hooper, Betty (Leonard) Chard, Marion (Dean) Abercrombie, Lorraine (Irving) Makela.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 until 6 pm on Thursday January 20, 2011 at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 6:00pm on Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Lindenberg to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dorothy's grandsons.
