Obituary
Ishpeming-Dorothea M. Peterson, age 95, of 720 Spring St., passed away at 9:20 PM, Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Mather Nursing Center where she had resided for the past month.
Dorothea was born in Menomonee Falls, WI, on November 19, 1913, the daughter of the late Arthur H. and Helena (Reddelien) Christman. She was a high school graduate and attended Milwaukee School of Business where she played on the school's basketball team. While in school, she modeled for a local art school. Dorothea worked as a secretary for the University of Wisconsin in Madison and Milwaukee and at the Menomonee Falls High School. Dorothea also worked at many restaurants as a waitress and enjoyed cards, cribbage, bowling, knitting and crocheting. Dorothea was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Menomonee Falls. She moved to the Ishpeming area in 1999 from Menomonee Falls.
Dorothea is survived by 2 daughters: Julie (James) Mager of Ishpeming, Dona (Joe) Moody of Littleton, CO; 4 grandchildren: Wayne (Pamela) Talo of Gaylord, Christine Aldridge of Kingsford, Rachel (Steve) Lambertson of Negaunee, and Julie (Paul) Saldivar of Aurora, CO; 5 great grandchildren: Kayla Haapala, Taylor, Joshua, and Lucas Lambertson, and Kaitlyn Talo; and a great-great grandchild: Madison Spruce, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Julian "Pete" Peterson in 2001, and her 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming 2:00PM on Wednesday, March 11th with Rev. Peggy A. Rose officiating.
Friends and relatives may call the funeral home from 1:00PM until the time of services on Wednesday. Entombment will take place at the Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI.
Memorials may be directed to the Marquette County Humane Society at 84 Snowfield Rd, Negaunee, MI 49866 in Dorothea's honor.
