Ishpeming – Doris C. Nardi, age 77 of 353 S. Pine St. in Ishpeming passed away on Sunday September 2, 2007 at the Bell Hospital in Ishpeming following a brief illness.
Doris was born March 2, 1930 in St. Ignace, MI the daughter of Matilda Rushford. She had worked at the Bell Memorial Hospital for 22 years in the laundry department, retiring in 1992. Doris married John Nardi on February 25, 1977. She was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Doris enjoyed crocheting, making crafts for her family, gardening, feeding the birds, and the companionship of her canine "Freddy".
Survivors include her husband John Nardi of Ishpeming, five children – Gerald (Frances) Roberts of National Mine, Janet Adamini of Ishpeming, Lee Roberts of Negaunee, Linda Roberts of Ishpeming and James Roberts of Detroit; 6 step-children – John C. (Lynn) Nardi of Ishpeming, Christine (Stuart) Ring of Ishpeming, Bob (Robyn) Nardi of Ishpeming, Cindy (Paul) Heino of Ishpeming, Michael (Diane) Nardi of Ishpeming and Louis (Chris) Nardi of Marquette, 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Matilda Mitchell, her first husband Marvin Roberts, a son Michael W. Roberts, a daughter-in-law Susie Roberts and a sister Eleanor MacDonald.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 10:00am until 11:00am on Wednesday September 5, 2007 at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where a memorial mass will be celebrated at 11:00am with the Rev. Fr. Greg Heikkala to officiate. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery Columbarium.
