Ishpeming- Doreen A. Brown, age 96 longtime Ishpeming resident passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she has been a resident for the past 10 years.

Doreen was born July 31 ,1921 in Gwinn to Howard and Florence (Nylander) Amell. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1939. Doreen and her late husband Arthur owned and operated Olson News in Ishpeming for 50 years.

Doreen was a life member and the oldest member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, and a former member of the Wawonowin Golf Club. Doreen was a past president of the Ishpeming Womens Business Association.

Doreen is survived by nieces, Sheila, Maryellen, Laura and Nancy, and nephews Terry and David, a brother in law Karl Ostlund and numerous great nieces and nephews. Doreen was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, sisters Jean Fernea and Nancy Ostlund, brother Howard Amell, brother-in-law- Clifford Fernea, and a special friend Lowell Holmgren.

Doreen's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Friday, April 6, 2018 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am with Rev. Warren Geier officiating.

A dessert, coffee social will follow in the church fellowship hall.
