Ishpeming, MI- Donna M. Steve, age 66 of 111 Bluff St. #512 Ishpeming passed away Saturday October 26, 2019 at her residence following a brief battle with lung cancer. She was under the loving care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Donna was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on March 21, 1953, a daughter of the late Evelyn Jean (Jarvinen) Hytinen and Glenn Edward Pohlman. She worked as a waitress at the Congress for many years and the Ishpeming VFW until her retirement.
In Donna's younger years she was a member of the Ishpeming Pool league and was an avid softball player. And when she could no longer play, she loved watching her daughters and grandchildren take after her. She was an avid reader—Stephen King was her favorite author and she enjoyed all types of music and tending to her flower garden. She was definitely an "animal person" and absolutely loved her cat Lovey. She relished every minute she had with her family and never missed an outing with them.
Donna is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Frederick) Koski, of Ishpeming, 2 grandsons: Bradley and Tyler (fiancée Destiny Bleau) Koski, two sisters, Glenda Green, of Negaunee; Gloria Pohlman, of Holt, MI; three brothers, Mike (Lark) Hytinen, of Diorite, William (Raymona) Pohlman, of New York; Jeff (Angel) Pohlman, of National Mine; a stepdaughter Elizabeth Steve of Ishpeming, several nieces and nephews including Tammy Green, her recent reunited extended family Pam Rautio, Todd and Cory Dowrick, and Deb Palomaki and also survived by her cat "Lovey".
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Billie Jo Steve, a brother Scott Pohlman, and several aunts and uncles.
A Celebration of Donna's life will be held from 10:00 am -12:00 noon on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home with a time to share memories at 12:00 noon.
A luncheon will follow at the Ishpeming VFW Post #4573, 310 Bank St. Ishpeming.
Donna's family would like to thank Dr. Shawna Gleason and the staff at UP Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care given to Donna during her recent illness.
