Palmer, MI- Donna E. (Dryge) Joki, age 81, former Palmer resident passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.

Donna was born in Calumet, Michigan on December 11, 1942, a daughter of the late Axel S. and Margaret V. (Beauchamp) Dryge. She graduated from Negaunee High School.

Donna enjoyed spending time with family, especially her daughter, and grandchildren, she was proud to be able to meet her great grandson, Bernie.  Donna enjoyed listening to music, writing and receiving letters, and was very generous and thoughtful to everyone she knew.

Donna is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Jonny) Waara, of Iron River; 3 grandchildren; Jaclyn Waara (Levi Feldkamp), Austin Waara (Maxime Groen), and Madeline Waara, 1 great grandson; Bernie, three sisters, Karen Beckmann, of Negaunee; JoAnna (Gary) Perucco, of Appleton, and Linda (Rod) Bengtson, of Republic, former husband Francis Joki, along with nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents Axel and Margaret Dryge.

Donna's family will greet relatives and friends from 5:00-6:00 pm on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at a Celebration of Life gathering at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home.

Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Donna's family would like to thank Kathy and Rob Conklin for the wonderful care given to Donna over the years. Donna loved and spoke fondly of them for overseeing her care for many, many years. Donna had lived with a mental illness since her teenage years.  Her inner strength came from her belief in God and her love of family.
