Marquette - Donald Eugene Williams, age 92, of 265 W. Fairbanks St., Marquette, passed away at 7:00AM, Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming where he had ben a patient since Dec. 18, 2015. He had been in the loving care of his family, staff members and the Lake Superior Hospice.
Donald was born in Bangor, MI on March 18, 1923, a son of the late Ruth (Conklin) and Harold Williams. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Apprentice Seaman during World War II. After his discharge he attended the University of Iowa, receiving a bachelor degree in business. He married Victoria R. Posa on December 31, 1946. Donald owned and operated the Farmers Insurance Agency in Dearborn, MI for 25 years. Then for a period of 14 years, Donald and his late wife Victoria owned and operated the Driftwood Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant in Eagle Harbor while living in Mohawk. Donald has been residing in Harvey for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club and enjoyed the summer rock show and constructing rock jewelry.
Donald is survived by great granddaughter Jennifer Chrisman of Harvey and grand son Mark Chrisman of Harvey, and a daughter Tammy Chrisman of Marquette. He was preceded in death by his wife Victoria Williams, daughter Shirley Chrisman and a brother Harold Williams.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2015 at the Silver Creek Church with Rev. Kevin Taylor officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00- 2:00pm on Tuesday at the Silver Creek Church, 219 Silver Creek Rd., Marquette, MI
