Obituary

Rochester, MN- Donald Raymond Salli, age 78, formerly of Ishpeming Twp., passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at the Season's Hospice House in Rochester, Minnesota, where he had resided since August 25, 2008.

Donald was born March 16, 1930 in Marquette, the son of the late David and Olive (Hutula) Salli. Donald was raised in Watton, MI before serving our country faithfully from 1947 – 1952 in the United States Navy serving on the USS Wright and received the Navy Occupation Service Medal. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy he moved to Ishpeming and was married to the late June Mackey for 48 years. He worked as a union carpenter for the Michigan Carpenters Union for many years, and went on to install blinds for Merrick's Custom Blinds for several years. He was a member of the Ishpeming VFW Post #4573, and was a bus driver for the Blue Notes Drum and Bugle Corps for many years. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.

Donald is survived by a son: Theodore (Alice) Salli of Watertown, WI, a daughter Liisa Pulsifer of Rochester, MN, 4 grandchildren: Katrina & Kimberly Salli, Kassandra& Raymond Pulsifer, 4 brothers: Ken Salli of Iron Mountain, Carlyle Salli of Roundrock, TX, Thomas (Barbara) Salli of Broomfield, CO and Russell Salli of Watton, 3 sisters: Arlene Reta of Arlington Heights, IL, Leona (Frank) Rajala of Watton, and Christyne (Bob) Repp of Arvada, CO, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife June in 2003.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00pm on Tuesday October 14, 2008 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. A luncheon will be served at the Ishpeming V.F.W. following the services. Entombment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee Twp.

Friends may call at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home from 3:00 until 4:00pm on Tuesday.
