Ishpeming Township, MI- Donald Russell Johnson, age 90, Ishpeming Twp resident passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at UP Health System Marquette.

Donald was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on February 22, 1932, a son of the late Gust S. and Olive M. (Stephens) Johnson. He graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1950.

He served in the U.S. Army as a CPL during the Korean War, he received the Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.

Don married Alice JoAnn Piper, September 1957 at the Mitchell United Methodist Church in Negaunee, MI.

Don was a semi-truck driver for many trucking companies, which include Railway Express, Olson Transportation, CW Transport, Gross Common Carrier, and Yellow Freight Line where he retired from 1991.

Don enjoyed spending time at the family camp that he built.

Donald is survived by two children: Sandy Johnson and Steven Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife A. JoAnn Johnson.

A private graveside service with Military Honors will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
