Ishpeming- Donald E. Cox, age 62, lifelong Ishpeming area resident, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday September 21, 2019 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of his family, and nursing home staff.

Donald was born in Ishpeming on November 5, 1956, son to the late James and Margaret (Steede) Cox. He was a member of the Ishpeming Township Fire Department, he enjoyed tinkering in his garage, was a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan, loved spending time with his granddaughter Sophia. Donald was the best husband and father you could ask for, he had a heart of gold, and his entire family meant the world to him.

Donald is survived by his wife of 41 years Rose Cox, 3 daughters- Melanie Cox, Nicole (Chase) Cox, Becky (Christian) Cox, 7 siblings- Michael (Mary) Cox, William (Jeanne) Cox, Richard Cox, David (Ruth) Cox, Douglas (Leona) Cox, Debra Rogney, Beverly Waters, 1 granddaughter- Sophia, sister-in-law- Ann (Jerry) Williams, brother-in-law- Bob (Kathy) Anderson, a special nephew- Dan (Monica) Cox, special friend- Jake Laakso, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws- Bob and Betty Anderson, 4 siblings- Margaret, Christine, Carol, James, and daughter- Amanda Cox.

Donald's family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Sunday September 29, 2019 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming. A memorial service will follow at 4:00pm with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. A potluck luncheon will follow the services at the Negaunee Eagles Club.

Donald's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility for the wonderful care they gave to Donald.
