Tilden Twp- Donald B. Cartwright, age 82 of 10550 Co. Rd. 476 Ishpeming (Tilden Twp) passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009 at his home under the care of his family and UP Home Health & Hospice.

Donald was born April 9, 1927 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to William & Gladys (McGahey) Cartwright. Donald served his country in the U.S. Army from 1945 until his honorable discharge in 1947. Donald worked as an operating engineer for many years being a member of Operating Engineers Local 324. He was also a life member of the V.F.W. Post 3676 of Sault Ste. Marie.

Don is survived by his wife of 28 years Karen (Banfield) Cartwright, six children: Sherrie Smith of Gaylord, Cynthia Fabry of Tampa, FL, Debra Cartwright of McMillan, Sheila (Gary) Hatch of Kincheloe,, Randolph Cartwright and Donald A. Cartwright both of Wisconsin, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brother in law Clarence Banfield of Ishpeming and sister in law Kathy (Duane) Koski of Ishpeming along with many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Bill Cartwright & Robert Cartwright and a sister Evelyn Lister.

Private family services will be held at a later date at Northland Chapel Gardens.

Donald's family would like to thank UP Home Health & Hospice, the staff and Doctors of Internal Medicine at Bell Hospital for the wonderful care given to Donald, also a special thanks to William Hereford for his many special visits over the past year.
