Mr. Donald J. "Haircut" Beauchamp, 84, of 1735 Iris St. Ishpeming Twp., passed away, Friday, April 24th, 2009 at Mather Nursing Center under the loving care of his family and UP Home Health & Hospice.
Donald was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on June 11, 1924, the son of the late John and Janet (McKinnen) Beauchamp.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a tail gunner during World War II, and worked as
a maintenance mechanic at Cleveland Cliffs Mining Company for 38 years at the Humboldt and Tilden Mines.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ishpeming ELKS Lodge and V.F.W. Covington Post. He served as an union official for the United Steelworkers Union Local 4950. Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Donald is survived by his wife Norma Beauchamp, whom he married September 26, 1953, three daughters, Denise (Brian) Polkinghorne of Ishpeming, MI; Peggy (Dennis) Nault of Germantown, WI; Mary Kay (Brian) Perkins of Orlando, FL;
two sons John Beauchamp of New Baltimore, MI; Gary Beauchamp of Ishpeming, MI;
Donald is also survived by two sisters, Mary Armbrust of Wonder Lake, IL; Marjorie Knudsen of Colerain, MN, 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and numerous niece and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Paul Beauchamp.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00AM on Tuesday, April 28th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Challancin officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10:00 until the time of service at 11:00am. A luncheon will be served in the church hall following the services.
