Ishpeming- Dona Mae Lenten, age 80 of 111 Bluff St. #301, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee surrounded by her family. She had been a resident at Eastwood for the past 2 weeks.
Dona was born in Ishpeming on February 27, 1929, the daughter of the late James A. and Mae (Tucker) Johnson. She was a 1948 graduate of Ishpeming High School and was employed at the H.W. Gossard Company as a seamstress. Dona also worked for the Ishpeming school district as a cook. She enjoyed playing BINGO and going to the casino. Dona was active in her grandchildren's lives and enjoyed being a spectator at their sporting events. She was skilled in knitting, baking, golfing, and making wedding cakes.
Dona is survived by her husband Ray Lenten of Ishpeming, two daughters: Bonnie (Steve) Roberts of Ishpeming; Julie (Kurt) Lehmann of Ishpeming, a son: Steve (Janis) Lenten of Millheim, PA, two sisters: Joyce (Kenneth) Maki of Salt Lake City, UT, Marie LaLonde of Ishpeming, a brother, James A. Johnson of Negaunee, Grandsons: Chris & Erick Roberts and Andrew (Amalia) and Jacob Lehmann, and a great grandson Ayden Roberts along with several nieces and nephews. Dona was preceded in death by a sister Betty Grenfell.
Memorial Services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Ishpeming, on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 12:00noon with Rev. James Robb officiating. A luncheon will follow the services at the church. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
