GWINN, MI – Don Fredrick Ivey Marietti, age 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, while in the comforting care of Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice staff.

Don was born on May 9, 1955, in Ishpeming, to Wayne Ivey and Lillian Lucas. He grew up in Ishpeming alongside his six siblings and was the baby of the family—a role he carried with both pride and charm throughout his life. He attended Bethel Lutheran Church and was a graduate of Ishpeming-Negaunee-NICE Community Schools, Class of 1979.

Don began his working years at Kemps Cash Grocery, where he was employed for eight years. He later worked as an Auto Parts Foreman at Parts Central Inc for six years. After leaving Parts Central, Don completed a Clerical Training Program and received his certificate in 1985. This opportunity led him to California, where he lived and worked for several years before eventually returning home to the Upper Peninsula.

Don spent the remainder of his life in the Gwinn and Ishpeming communities. Above all, Don will be remembered for the kindness that radiated from him so naturally. He had a truly caring heart that made everyone feel welcome. He never met a person he couldn’t talk to, laugh with, or befriend. His warmth and patience left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He found great joy in knitting and crocheting, creating many beautiful blankets. Don also loved to dance and took pleasure in teaching and encouraging others. Known for being a bit fussy in the most endearing way, Don kept a very tidy home—you might even call him a clean freak.

In recent years, Don especially treasured his daily afternoon chats and coffee with his brother Bill. He also looked forward to spending time and sharing meals with other family members. Don will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

Don is survived by his brothers, Peter and William Marietti; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Ivey and Lillian Lucas; a brother, Michael Marietti; his sisters, Marge Marietti, Carmen Meyers, and Angie Rosebud.

Honoring Don’s wishes, a small committal service and burial will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery at a later date. Details will be forthcoming.
