Republic, MI - Dolores Marie Rankinen, age 92, former Republic resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had resided since 2013.

Dolores was born in Milwaukee, WI on January 27, 1930, a daughter of the late Edith (Nelson) and Fred Tangwall. She grew up in the Milwaukee area and had worked at a car parts manufacturing factory in her younger years. She and her late husband James resided in West Bend, WI for many years, and Dolores tended to the needs of her family as a homemaker. Dolores and James retired to Republic, where she resided until 2013. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic.  Dolores loved listening to country music.

Dolores is  survived by two daughters - Lynn Marie (Ray Miller) Rankinen, of Eagan, MN; MaryAnne (Scot) Bruesewitz of Springfield, MO; a son Dean Rankinen of Milwaukee, WI; 3 grandchildren – Matthew Miller, Benjamin Miller and Jared Bruesewitz, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Rankinen in 2005; brother Wallace Tangwall; and sister Shirley Beth.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday October 12, 2022, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Alex Ross officiating. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall. Interment will take place at the Republic Cemetery.
