Ann Arbor, MI – Dennis "D.J." LaFond, age 55 of 418 Junction St., Ishpeming, passed away on Thursday November 2, 2017 at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System in Ann Arbor, MI where he had been a patient for nearly 2 weeks.  He had been in ill health for the past several years.

Dennis was born May 17, 1962 in Grants, NM the son of Douglas J. and Janet M. (LaJoie) LaFond.  His younger years were spent in Ishpeming, MI where he had attended the Ishpeming High School prior to enlisting in the United States Navy.  Following his discharge from the Navy Dennis returned to Ishpeming where he had worked for the Callahan Gold Mining Co at the Humboldt Mill.  He then moved to Pelston, MI and worked in Petoskey, MI as a Tool & Die maker for Circuit Controls Corp. for many years.  Dennis returned to Ishpeming in 2013 and had resided here since.  He was a member of the AmVets, and the Greenwood American Legion Post #114.

Survivors include his mother Janet LaFond of Ishpeming, brother Douglas (Patti) LaFond of Negaunee, brother-in-law Gordon Wittler of Harvey, 7 nieces, a nephew along with aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved dog Buddy.  He was preceded in death by his father Douglas LaFond and two sisters Jean Trudgeon and Mary Wittler.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Greenwood American Legion, Post #114 with Mike Fraser Chaplain to officiate.
