Republic- Dennis W. Aho, age 76 of 457 Koeber Ave. Republic, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Mather Nursing Center where he been a resident for one day.
Dennis was born November 15, 1934 in Republic to the late Henry & Aileen Mustamaa Aho. He graduated from Republic High School, class of 1954. Dennis worked for Cleveland Cliffs at the Humboldt and Tilden Mines retiring after 30 years of service.
Dennis was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Republic. He played pool in the Republic Old Timer's Pool League. He was an avid Detroit Lions, Tigers and Red Wings Fan and a proud Republic-Michigamme High School Hawks supporter. Dennis said he was a professional penny slot machine player. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his camp on Casey Lake where he also loved to fish and hunt. He was a gentle, quiet and very generous man.
Dennis is survived by three daughters: Bonny (Roger) Kipling, Becky (David) Anderson and Beth (Paul) Ringuette all of Ishpeming, a brother Donald (Melba) Aho of Republic, a sister Myrna (John) Todd of Republic, 4 grandchildren: Melissa (Dan) Perry, Michele (Jon) DeVold, Michael (Cara Taylor) Anderson and Kristin Kipling, 2 great grandchildren: Derek Perry and Eleanor Anderson along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Duane Aho and a sister Joyce Jenkot.
A memorial service and greet will be held Tuesday February 1, 2011 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Republic with greeting from 1:00-3:00pm and a memorial service at 3:00pm with Rev. Katherine Finegan officiating.
