Ishpeming, MI- Denise Marie Luokkala, age 59, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at her residence.

Denise was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on March 1, 1962, the only daughter of Carol Ann (Gaboury) Luokkala and the late Paul August Luokkala. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1980.

Denise worked for TV6 News for 42 years, she began her career as a camera operator and retired in November 2021 as a director.

Denise enjoyed playing softball and was on several teams for the Iron Range Women's Softball League. She also enjoyed going to the casino with her mom and aunts, taking rides on her side by side, spending time in the outdoors and the companionship of her cat. She was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers Fan.

Denise is survived by her mother Carol Luokkala, three brothers, David Luokkala, Larry (Kelly) Luokkala, and Steve (Wendy) Luokkala, all of Ishpeming, along with several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Denise was preceded in death by her father, Paul, an infant brother Michael, niece Carol Jean, great nephew Noah Luokkala, sister-in-law Dixie Luokkala, and infant nephew David Jr.

A time to Celebrate Denise's life will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming where there will be a time to share memories of Denise.
