Delima "Dee" Mantela
Olympia, WA- Delima Mantela, age 94 of 8942 27th Ave. SE, Olympia, WA, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007 at her daughters residence where she been living for the past 15 years. She had been in good health until the past six months.
Delima was born August 17, 1912 in Marquette, MI to Joseph & Marie (Lemyre) Gingras. She graduated from Bishop Baraga High School in Marquette. Delima worked at Getz's Department Store where she worked as a seamstress in the alteration department. In 1941 she married William T. Mantela and moved to Ishpeming, MI. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, and spending time with her family at their camps in Negaunee and Kenton, MI. She continued to love the "woods" while camping with her family in Washington State until her 94th birthday.
Delima was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming and the Daughters of Isabella.
Delima is survived by her daughter Ruth (David) Smith of Olympia, WA, and 3 grandchildren: Michael (Ann) Smith of Middletown, OH, Brian (Molly) Smith of Kingston, WA and Alan (Natalie) Smith of Washington D.C., a great grandchild Sicily, one sister Dora Woodbridge of the Detroit area, along with several nieces & nephews. Delima was preceded in death by her husband William in 1992 and a son Stephen Mantela in 1981.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:30p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. James Challancin officiating. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
Friends may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday from 12:30p.m. until the service time at 1:30p.m.
