Obituary

Ishpeming – Delbert C. Larson, age 87, of 631 Wabash St., Ishpeming past away at 1:02am on Friday October 10, 2008 at the home of his son's at 721 E. Empire St. Ishpeming, MI where he had resided for the past month. Delbert was in the loving care of his family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice at the time of his death.

Delbert was born the son of the late Clarence F. and Ivey (Stoneman) Larson on November 16, 1920 in Ishpeming. He was a 1938 graduate of Ishpeming High School and attended LaSalle University completing a correspondence course to become a Certified Public Accountant. Delbert had worked for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company in the accounting department. He then went on to work as a C.P.A. for John D. Morrison and Company, which later became Ernst & Ernst Company in Marquette. Delbert went on to be the financial manager of Marquette Radiology Associates, and was the accountant for Carroll Motor Supply in Ishpeming. Most recently he was the financial secretary at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming for over ten years. Delbert also did tax preparation work for several individual clients.

Delbert was a member of the VASA Lodge, the Elks, and a former member of the Ishpeming Rotary. He enjoyed walking, biking and sports but lived for his work.

Survivors include Delbert's companion of the past seven years Jeanette Carlson and her family, Sons: James (Rosemary) Larson, William (Sue) Larson, Charles Larson, and Norman Larson all of Ishpeming, Daughters: Patricia (Larry) Collister of Ishpeming and Karen (Mark) Barker of Menominee, 7 Grandchildren: Anne M. (Joshua) Daugherty of Green Bay, Michael J. Larson or Marquette, Lars K. (Danielle) Larson of Ishpeming, Larissa R. Larson of Ishpeming, Jacob (Laura) Larson of Marquette, Charles (Danelle) Barker of Flint, MI and Laura (Nickolas) Noiseux of Cedar Rapids, IA, and 6 Great Grandchildren. Delbert was preceded in death by his wife Gladys in 1994, and a sister Bernice Austin.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 4:00pm at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Warren Geier officiating. Interment is to follow the services at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael, Lars and Jacob Larson, Joshua Daugherty, Tom and Steven Carlson.
