Ishpeming – Deana F. Nowlin, age 64, of 221 Marquette St., Ishpeming passed away on Saturday July 25, 2015 at UPHS Marquette, surrounded by her family.
Deana was born June 19, 1951 in Chelsea, MA the daughter of William and Della (Hess) LeMay. She was raised in Iron Mountain, MI and was a graduate of the Kingsford High School, Class of 1969. She married Edward E. Nowlin, and they have resided in Ishpeming for the past 43 years. Deana was known lovingly by so many as "MA" in her 21 years of School Bus Driving for the Ishpeming Public Schools. She also drove truck for the U.S. Postal Service for many years.
Deana loved spending time taking care of her family especially her grandchildren. She loved to bake and was always passing out her holiday cookies. In her early years she could often be found traveling in the Semi with her husband Ed while he was doing his work for the U.S. Postal Service. In the more recent years Deana enjoyed spending time being as active as she could at the Marquette YMCA. She worked tirelessly collecting coins to fill collector books for her grandchildren. She truly enjoyed meeting new people and was always a great friend that could be counted on. She will be missed greatly by not only her family but by the many people that she graced with her smile and wonderful laugh. She touched many lives.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years Edward E. Nowlin of Ishpeming; a daughter Sandy (Gary) Vargo of Marquette; a son John (Angela) Nowlin of Gwinn; 2 step-children Edwina Nowlin of Palmer, AK and William (Eulita) Nowlin of Lawton, OK; a sister Suzanne (Kent) Looper of IA; 2 brothers – Joseph "Skip" (Patricia) LeMay of Iron Mountain and William (Bethany) LeMay of Las Vegas, NV; 12 grandchildren Kim, Lana, Louie, Kayla, Jessica, Tyler, James, Ashlee, Xena, Becky, Seth & Victor; 11 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
In order to honor Deana's wishes, her cremation will take place with no public services.
