Champion- Dawn S. Kangas, age 78 of Diorite Location, Champion, Michigan, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, with her loving family at her side.

She was born on October 7, 1943, in Ishpeming, Michigan, daughter of Arvid and Edith (Lanyon) Linna.

Dawn was a graduate of Ishpeming High School and Northern Michigan University, where she earned both her Bachelors and Masters Degrees.  Dawn spent the majority of her working career as a first grade teacher in the NICE School District.  Upon retirement, she loved spending time with family, watching her grandchildren participate in all their activities, and spending time at camp.

Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Paul; sons Kevin (Mary) of Norway, and Todd (Laura) of Manistique.  She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Cody (Robin) Kangas; Garde (Veronica) Kangas;  Andrew Kangas; Carlie Kangas (Brelin Tasker); Megan (Josh) Richards; Tyler (Zuleiki) Kangas; and Morgan (JR) Kangas-Miller.   She also leaves behind seven great grandchildren, Kaylee, Quynn, Casyn, Blake, Riggs, and Eldon Kangas; and Jaden Richards, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Dawn was preceded in death by her brothers John and Robert and her sister, Christine.

Per her wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held.  Instead, Dawn hoped all who were impacted by her life take a moment to remember a fond memory of her.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials can be directed to UPAWS or The Salvation Army.
