National Mine – David W. "Mannix" Mannikko age 76 of 2047 Co. Rd. PRG National Mine location in Ishpeming, passed away on April 22, 2017 at U.P. Health System Marquette while in the loving care of his family.

David was born August 21, 1940 to the late Walter and Lois (McNeal) Mannikko. He attended National Mine High School graduating with the class of 1958. Following graduation David served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He married Darlene Pomeroy on July 21, 1985 they were married for 31 years. David worked as an OTR Truck Driver for over 34 years.

David was a member of the Negaunee Rod and Gun Club, the National Rifle Association, was an avid reader, movie collector, gun collector, and John Wayne fan. He enjoyed history and documentaries of World War II and the Korean War. David enjoyed being on the road, as well as hunting in his younger years.

David is survived by his wife Darlene Mannikko, 4 children – Walter Mannikko USMC, John Mannikko, Marlo (Larry Barnett) Mannikko, Niccole (John) Whalen, 1 stepdaughter- Debbie Anderson, 5 grandchildren – Tyler, Layne, Katlyn, and Logan Barnett, and Austin Whalen, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Lance Mannikko.

Funeral Services will be held at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 5:00 PM. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. A potluck luncheon will follow at the Faith Lutheran Church Hall.

Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside at a later date.
