Obituary
Ishpeming Twp,- David E. "Knob" Gaboury, age 63 Ishpeming Township resident passed away Wednesday June 24, 2015 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI where he had been a resident for the past 6 months.
David was born October 5, 1951 in Ishpeming to Eugene & Tillie (Ross) Gaboury. He graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1970 and attended Northern Michigan University. David worked for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company (Cliffs Natural Resources) for 40 years, retiring in 2013 from the Empire Mine as a plant repairman.
David was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he belonged to the Holy Name Society, and was a volunteer for St. Vincent De Paul Society. He was also a member of the Michigan Masons Teal Lake Lodge #202, the Ahmed Shriners and the Eastern Star Negaunee Chapter. He enjoyed gardening, canning, and making homemade salsa. David was always happy spending time at camp on the Dead River Basin and was always willing to help others.
David is survived by his wife Cindy (Sener) Gaboury, whom he married on March 1, 1980, a son Aaron (Charity) Gaboury who is a Captain in the US Army currently stationed at Fort Lewis, WA, a grandson Seth David Gaboury, 2 sisters: Priscilla (David) Juchemich of Negaunee Twp, Jo Ann (Robert "Rup") Nelson of Negaunee, 2 brothers: Eugene (Carol) Gaboury of Ishpeming and Steven (Connie) Gaboury of Ishpeming a sister in law Kathy Gaboury of Ishpeming along with several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents Eugene & Tillie and a brother Robert Gaboury.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Friday July 17, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr Dan Moll officiating. David's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 until the time of service. St. Vincent De Paul will conduct their memorial service prior to the Mass.
A luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following the service.
