Ishpeming – David P. Connors, age 60, of Division St., Ishpeming passed away on Saturday November 29, 2014 at his home in Ishpeming following an apparent heart attack.
David was born July 23, 1954 in Ishpeming the son of the late Donald and Lorraine (Boase) Connors. He was a lifelong Ishpeming resident and a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1972. David was employed for the past 40 years with Cliffs Michigan Mining (C.C.I.) having started at the Mather B Mine and then spent most of his career at the Tilden Mine. When David was not working he enjoyed time spent at his camp, deer and bird hunting and fishing, along with doing carpentry woodwork. He also enjoyed traveling, but only when it involved going to visit his children.
Survivors include 5 children – Kristina (Randy) Norwood of Bellevue, NE, Jeffrey (fiancee' Amy) Connors stationed in South Korea, Austin Pepin of Monroe, WI, Justin Connors and Zachary Connors both of Negaunee; 2 sisters – Sharon (Jack) Nicholas and Barb (Scott) Niemi; 2 brothers – Jim (Leona) Connors and Tom (Mary Jo) Connors all of Ishpeming; 2 grandchildren – Sydnei and Mason Norwood along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 until 6pm on Thursday December 4, 2014 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 6:00pm on Thursday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
