Obituary

Rhinelander, WI- It is with a heavy heart that my husband David Barr passed away on December 27, 2023. He was born December 17, 1961. His wife and family were by his side when he passed away, along with Aspirus Hospice Comfort Care.

David was born December 17, 1961, in Marquette to the late Richard and Carol (Beaudry) Barr. He graduated from Gwinn High School, Class of 1980.

David served his country in the U.S. Navy 4 years of active duty and spent 15 years as a civilian employee in telecommunication for the US. Navy in Guam, he also worked as a police officer for the Guam Police.

David enjoyed his Camaros and owned several over the years. In 2021, he got his dream car, a ZL1. He enjoyed going for cruises and entered the Rhinelander car show in 2023 and won the drivers choice trophy. He enjoyed riding his Harley, being in parades, and going on group rides with the motorcycle club. He enjoyed fishing on the ocean. On his boat, he caught Mahi-Mahi, tuna, skipjack, and many other kinds of fish.

As a hobby, he would make doll houses piece by piece, all hand cut. He made one for his sister Linda and his daughter, Brittany. David was always there for anyone who needed help. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He always had a sense of humor and knew how to make anyone laugh. He enjoyed attending fiestas while living in Guam for 36 1/2 years, he enjoyed the tropical weather.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, daughter Brittany, stepchildren Chris (Hope) La Mere, Amy (Mike) Starkey, Wade Martin, Tiffany Martin, grandchildren Skyler, Serenity, Madylena, Abby, Bradley, Cameryn, Summer, Bexley, and a granddaughter that is due in April, Also surviving are sisters; Linda (Leland) Nellist, Sandra (Greg) Jatczak and Marilyn (Scott) Hansen, a brother Dennis (Laurie) Barr. He will also be missed dearly by his fur babies, Sophie and Princess.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Terry (Aflleje) Barr.

A special thank you to Aspirus Hospice Comfort Care for the wonderful care given to David. The family would like to give a special thank you to nurses Jen and Shawn, Chaplin Michelle, and social worker Sara. A special thank you to Dr. Friedman at the Guam Cancer Center and his team, along with Dr. McKenna and his team at the James Beck Cancer Center with Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital.

David's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home 400 N. Third St, Ishpeming, MI 49849 where his funeral service will be held at 11:00 am with Michael Holman to officiate.

Military Honors will be accorded by the US. Navy.
