Negaunee- Daniel L. Scanlon, age 61, passed away on Friday February 22, 2019 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in the loving care of his family and nursing home staff.

Daniel was born on March 2, 1957 in Ishpeming to the late Jack and Yvonne (Brown) Scanlon. He attended Ishpeming High School graduating with the class of 1976. Following graduation Dan went to work for Cliffs until the layoffs started. He then worked at Coast to Coast Hardware where he eventually became the Owner and Operator of the store. He then went on to work as a mechanic at Rose Motors before working for Carpet Specialists where he was employed for over 10 years as warehouse manager.

Dan was a member of the Negaunee Eagles Club, the Tilden Club, the Ishpeming Cribbage League, the Ishpeming Pool League, and a former member of the Ishpeming Volunteer Fire Department. He was a good carpenter and loved wood working. He was a licensed auto mechanic, and the best bike mechanic in the area where he earned the nickname of "The Bike Doctor". Dan liked fishing and spending time in the woods. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Arizona, California, and Las Vegas, and he loved music of all genres.

Dan is survived by his wife Carol (Booker) Scanlon, 2 children- Jeff Scanlon, Carla Lovern, 2 step-children- Victoria Lyn (William) Hinds, Michelle (Brian) Holm, 4 siblings- Patrick (Carrie) Scanlon, Sheryl (David) Ring, Mary Ann (John) Ackley, John (Barbara) Scanlon, 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and another that is on the way, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dan's family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday February 26, 2019 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. A Memorial service will follow at 4:00pm with Dan's dear friend Peter Christopherson sharing a eulogy and prayer.

Per Dan's request, the family asks that anybody coming to the service to please wear your Packer apparel.
