Ishpeming, MI- Daniel J. Filbrandt, age 66, of Ishpeming, MI passed away at UP Health System – Marquette on November 2, 2020 after an illness.
Daniel was born in South Haven, MI on April 11, 1954, son of the late Margaret (Mehrley) and Jerald Filbrandt. He was raised in South Haven, MI and was a graduate of South Haven High School. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a four-year bachelor's degree in business and Marketing. He earned a second four-year degree from Northern Michigan University in Information Technology graduating Summa Cum Laude. His working career included working for small business owners in office management positions. Lastly with Saints Auto Sales and Superior Lawn Care.
Daniel married Sharon (Montgomery) on April 7, 1979 and they then moved their family to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 1990. He was an active member of Calvary Church of Negaunee and served in the prison ministry at Marquette Branch Prison for over 25 years. His favorite past times were reading any book, spending time with family, drinking coffee, eating popcorn, hiking, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. His favorite saying was "Yes Dear." He met a lot of people and cherished the many friends he made thru the years.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sharon K. (Montgomery) Filbrandt of Ishpeming. His children Timothy J. (Julie) Filbrandt, Rachael M. (Andrew) Kallioinen and Benjamin D. (Tiffany) Filbrandt all of Ishpeming. Seven grandchildren Braeden, Breonna, Gavin, Kaeden, Elizabeth, Victoria, and Lincoln. Also, mother-in-law, Lula Montgomery. Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Jerald, in 2001; his mother, Margaret, in 2007; and father-in-law, Wayne in 2016.
Service will take place on November 11, 2020, at Calvary Church of Negaunee, officiated by Pastor E. R. Crider. Viewing will be from 11:00am – 12:00pm with the service starting at 12:00pm. Private burial will be at the Ishpeming Cemetery following the service.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at UP Health System - Marquette, for the compassion and dedication given to Daniel and the family, while he was in their care.
