Ishpeming- Damian Andriacchi passed away peacefully on August 29, 2026 at the age of 70, following a brave and dignified battle against Lewy body dementia.
Born on February 22, 1956 in Ishpeming, Michigan, Damian was the son of Salvatore & Helen Andriacchi. He grew up with a natural curiosity for how things worked and a love of people; these passions shaped the course of his life.
Damian was an exceptionally gifted mechanic who had a rare talent for diagnosing the toughest of mechanical puzzles. He turned this passion into a purpose by becoming a dedicated teacher, mentoring countless students over the years. He didn’t just teach the mechanics of a machine; through his patience, sense of humor and innate kindness he instilled confidence and enthusiasm in everyone who entered his classroom.
Beyond his professional life, Damian’s heart belonged to his family and to Notre Dame. His Fighting Irish pride was a central part of who he was, and his love of Notre Dame was infectious – he spent many happy seasons cheering on his favorite team surrounded by family and friends.
There could only ever be one Damian.
Damian is survived by his partner Cathy Marra, daughters Kimberly & Brenda, and grandchildren Trent (Kerrigan) Sweeney, Peyton, Dax, and Remi Kakuri, and Cash Clements, his siblings, and a large circle of extended family, friends and neighbors who will miss his warmth, quick wit, and ready smile. He is preceded in death by his parents Salvatore & Helen, and his sister Justina.
Damian’s family will greet relatives and friends at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday September 4, 2026 from 10:00am until 11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Fr. George Mathew celebrating. Interment will follow at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Damian’s family requests that donations be made to Cancer Care of Marquette County in memory of Damian.
