Clarksburg Loc. – Dale T. Currie, age 63, of 474 Co. Rd. CKJ, Clarksburg Loc., passed away on Monday, August 19, 2013 at his home of an apparent heart attack.


Dale was born October 25, 1949 in Negaunee the son of Gene E. and Viola (Keily) Currie. Dale spent his summers as a youth on his grandparent's farm in Tappan, ND which he very much enjoyed. Dale served his country in the United States Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War, having been in two 13 month tours of duty starting at age 18. Dale received the Purple Heart (2), the Vietnamese Service Medal w/ Silver Star and the Meritorious Unit Commendation, amongst other service ribbons and medals. He was a 100% disabled American War Veteran.

He had worked as a Heavy Equipment operator in Marshfield, MA for the Marsh Construction Co. and locally for O'devero Construction, retiring in 1992 due to his health. Dale enjoyed traveling, and had visited all 50 States of this Nation. Dale was never one to pass up an opportunity to make a stop at a casino. He also enjoyed driving in the woods or some time spent fishing. He was a Life Member of the American Legion – Greenwood Post where he had been past commander. Dale was also a Life Member of the AMVETS and a member of the VFW.

Dale is survived by his wife Kathy Currie of Clarksburg, who was his soul mate of the past 32 years, 5 children – Dale Currie Jr. of Kingsford, Darlene (Rob) Neilson and Denise Currie both of Harrison, Michelle Diaz of Potter, WI and Lori Laine and her significant other Eric of Kiel, WI, 2 brothers – Terry (Sharon) Currie of Clarksburg and Dan (Teresa) Currie of Ishpeming, 2 sisters – Darlene (Dennis) Logan of Seattle, WA and Rogie (Otto) Luoma of Clarksburg, 18 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and another on the way, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson Steven Dunquist.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Greenwood American Legion, Co. Rd. 496 in Ely Twp. with the Rev. D. Michael Carriere to officiate. Military honors will be accorded by members of the American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #380. The family will greet relatives and friends following the services at the American Legion where a luncheon will be held. Honorary pallbearers will be nieces, nephews and friends of Dale's.
