Negaunee- Corrine S. "Corky" Hillis, age 79, longtime area resident, passed away on Sunday February 18, 2024 at the Eastwood Nursing Center in Negaunee while in the loving care of her family, and nursing home staff.

Corky was born on November 30, 1944, daughter of the late William and Viola (Olgren) Langson. She worked as a cook at Bucks restaurant in Ishpeming, and bartended at the Negaunee Eagles for many years.

Corky was a member of the Negaunee Eagles, she loved playing BINGO and would try to attend daily wherever it was being held on the circuit. She enjoyed watching NCIS and her soap operas. Corky also loved babysitting her grandchildren.

Corky is survived by her 3 children- Bonita "Bonnie' Symons, Mary (James Jr.) Boles, Johnnie (Tami) Hillis, 8 grandchildren- John O'Neill, Mitchell (Krysten) O'Neill, Shawna Symons, Marissa Symons, Natasha Symons, Katrina Symons, Samantha Brodin, Tia Boles, 3 great grandchildren- William Brodin, Jazmine Brodin, Annabella O'Neill, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Johnnie Hillis, brothers- William and Frederick Langson, sisters- Eunice Hebert, Viola Liubakka, Carol Joki, Florence Houseman, Sally McNally, Arlene Thexton, Lois Hill, and son-in-law- Robert Symons.

Corky's family will greet relatives and friends at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home from 4:00pm until 6:00pm on Thursday February 29, 2024.

Corky's interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
