Ishpeming- Colleen H. Sundblad, age 97, lifelong Ishpeming resident, passed away on Thursday June 11, 2026 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of her son, UP Home Health and Hospice, and nursing home staff.
Colleen was born in Ishpeming on January 8, 1929, daughter of the late Clayton and Inez (Holmgren) Simons. She grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, class of 1947. Colleen married her husband Raymond Sundblad on June 21, 1949, they shared 64 years of marriage before his passing on May 11, 2014.
Colleen was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, the Eastern Stars, Bell Auxiliary, Friends of the Library, and Jobes Daughters. She took great joy in caring for others and will be remembered for her wonderful baking, cooking, and hospitality that she gave to others.
Colleen is survived by 4 children: Raymond Sundblad Jr., David Sundblad, Stephen Sundblad, and Charles (Jannie) Sundblad, sister: Claudette Spiroff, 4 grandchildren: Rachel Carter, Christopher (Cassandera) Sundblad, Eric Sundblad, Caleb Sundblad, 7 great grandchildren: Wyatt Sundblad Jordyn Carter, Avery Carter, Isaiah Carter, Makenna Sundblad, Marsha Sundblad, Kinleigh Sundblad, 1 great great grandchild: Karsyn Carter, close friend: Henrietta Nardi, along with several nieces and nephews.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Raymond Sundblad Sr., grandson: Aaron Sundblad, and great grandson: Isaac Carter.
Colleen’s family will greet relatives and friends at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming on Thursday June 18, 2026 from 11:00am until 12:00pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00pm with Rev. J.M. Mills officiating. Coffee and desserts will be served in the church hall following the service. Interment will follow in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Colleen’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, especially to the angels in the 300 wing for the wonderful care they gave to Colleen.
