Obituary
Ishpeming- Clifford E. Viant, age 88 longtime Ishpeming resident, passed away Friday, October 07, 2011 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette where he been a resident since 2004.
Clifford was born January 23, 1923 in Ishpeming to Earl & Louise (Williams) Viant. He was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, class of 1941 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his service to his country he worked 30 years for Cleveland Cliffs at the Empire Mine, retiring as a warehouse foreman in 1982.
Clifford enjoyed the outdoors of the Upper Peninsula, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and teaching his grandsons those skills. Clifford was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Pioneer Kiwanis Club and life member of the Ishpeming V.F.W.
Clifford is survived by a son James L. (Cheryl) Viant of Lake Zurich, IL, 2 grandsons: James (Jennifer) Viant of Lindenhurst, IL and Peter (Erin) Viant of Plainfield, IL, along with 4 great grandchildren: Katelyn, Aidan, Emma and Evan Clifford. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife (Betty Gail).
A graveside service will be held at the Negaunee Cemetery at a later date.
