Harvey- Dr. Clifford F. Brin, PhD, age 73 of 106 Lakewood Ln. Harvey left this earth on July 20th to continue his journey.
Clifford was born on September 15, 1938 in Norway, MI to Clifford F. & Harriet D. (Williams) Brin. Cliff was a well-educated man: He graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1956 and received his BSA in Accounting from Northern Michigan University, a MS in Accounting from U of W- Madison and his Doctorate in Business Administration from Indiana/Northern Michigan University. He also attended Clown School at the U of W- LaCrosse.
Clifford served as a professor in Accounting & Finance at Northern Michigan University for 31 years. He held a CPA license in Michigan & Wisconsin and was a Certified Fraud Investigator. He additionally worked as a CPA in Milwaukee at Arthur Anderson & Co.
Cliff had a free spirit and enjoyed time spent living on the island of St. Thomas and other islands from Puerto Rico to Venezuela. He was a World Traveler; motorcycling the entire United States and Europe. He was held and interrogated for 18 hours in the USSR for attempting to enter a "closed" city. Besides traveling he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, movies and playing cribbage at any time. He enjoyed good food, cooking, and even attended cooking school in New Orleans. Family time was always important to Cliff; trips in the fall to camp and to Isle Royal were his favorites. He had a love for animals, especially his canine companions; Riley & Cricket who will miss him greatly.
Cliff was a member of many organizations including the F&A Mason's, Shriners', MI association of CPA's, American Inst. of CPA's, the Longriders Motorcycle Club, ABATE of MI, H.O.G., and Superior Chapter-H.O.G.
Cliff cared for others, and even went so far as to write a book after the death of his wife to help others cope with the loss of a spouse and was an active participant of the Living with Cancer Support Group. Christmas time was very special, as Cliff and his family were honored to be Santa & the Elves for the Marquette tree lighting for many years.
Cliff is survived by his daughter: Karen (Terri Argall) Brin of Marquette, his companion Laurie Kass and her daughter Andrea, very special friend and son he never had Gordy Warchock of Marquette, brother-in-laws Gerald and Kleo Hanson of Iron Mountain, along with nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Yvonne K. in 1979, a sister Violet Nora and brothers Al Daily, John and Jim Smiley.
A Memorial Celebration will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday, July 24th at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming with Hank Steede to officiate.
The family will greet relatives and friends and the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00pm until the time of service at 6:00pm.
There will be a group motorcycle ride, for any who wants to participate, from Bald Eagle Harley Davidson in Marquette to Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home prior to the visitation, in honor of Clifford.
A fellowship gathering will be held at Lagniappe's in Marquette following the Memorial Celebration.
