Obituary

Fond du Lac, WI – Clayton (Spike III) Allen Maki, age 30, of 230 N. Bell St, formerly of Ishpeming, passed away at 11:04PM on Saturday August 8, 2009 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family and friends, while under the care of family and the St. Agnes Hospice following a courageous battle with cancer.

Clayton was born on August 27, 1978 in Ishpeming to Gale (Anderson) Maki and the late Jerry Maki. He was a 1996 graduate of Westwood High School and attended Northern Michigan University for 6 years. Clay had lived in Fond du Lac for three years, working for Menards and as the assistant manager for Finish Line. Before moving to Fond du Lac he lived in Georgia for a year. Clayton loved sports and participated in softball leagues in both the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 114. He will be remembered fondly by his friends and family who meant the world to Clay. He was a great father, son, brother, and friend and did his part to help everyone he could.

Clayton is survived by his girlfriend Sandy Ganser of Fond du Lac, 1 ½ year old daughter Camden Maki of Fond du Lac, mother: Gale (Jim) Maki of Ishpeming, sisters: Dona (Rob) Kukla of Gwinn, Sherry (Bryan) Prusi of Ishpeming, Jerri (Billy) Leader of Ishpeming, Tina Maki of Ishpeming, brothers: Jim (Jessie) Maki of Ishpeming, Richard (Carrie) Maki of Ishpeming, Jeff Maki of Fond du Lac, Joe Maki of Ishpeming, and Gramma Anna Hupp along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles including cousins Angela (Pat) Murphy, Mike (Chris) Seppanen, Matt Pelto, Maija Seppanen and aunt Bonnie Pelto. Clayton was preceded in death by his father Jerry (Spike II) Maki, grandfathers: Martin (Spike) Maki, Clayton (Sibby) Anderson, Clifford Hupp, Alfred (Bunny) Plattenburg, and grandmother: Georgine Maki.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday August 14, 2009 at the Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Lindenberg and Rev. Michael Carriere officiating. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

The family will greet friends and relatives at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home from 5 until 8PM on Thursday and again at the Wesley United Methodist Church from 9:00AM until 11:00AM on Friday. A luncheon will be held following the service at the American Legion Lillian Larson Post 114.

Pallbearers for the services will be: Jeff, Joe, Richard and Jim Maki, Allen Sentek, and Matt Pelto. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jake Foster, Darrell Spencer, Keith Lacosse, Paul Heino, Allen Maki and Tyler Ostlund.

Clayton's family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Froedtert Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee and to the staff at the St. Agnes Home Health and Hospice.
